Yoga Studies Online Course

Yoga Studies Online Course
The Foundation Yoga Studies Course is designed for students interested in pursuing knowledge and a deeper understanding of yoga and and inparticular yoga philosophy. This online course is offered as an introductory course towards the full course IYTA Diploma of Yoga Teaching held next year in Sydney, Australia or via online. 

Resources for IYTA Faculty only.  This Course/repository is not accessible to students.

Seniors are becoming one of the largest sectors of our community. There is a huge opportunity to help this demographic to enhance their lives with a healthy body and mind through yoga.

This fully online teacher training will cover the anatomy of the aging body, the 12 most common medical issues of senior yoga students and managing pain. The course is focussed around how to plan and run Seniors yoga classes with an emphasis on Chair yoga postures, breathing techniques, movements and modifications.

This informative and practical teacher training helps you learn how to support your local community of seniors to have a healthy body and mind.

Please note the online course is Certificate of Completion only.  The Certificate of Completion is 25 CPD points.


Yin Yoga - Level 2 - Flow, Themes & Pre-Existing Conditions

This course will enable you to teach the linking of yin postures according to various themes such as the 5 elements or specific areas of the body eg hips

This course will also enable you to incorporate students in your classes with various pre-existing conditions

The IYTA Yin 2 Weekend Workshop is targeted at yoga practitioners and yoga teachers who wish to explore safety in Yin Yoga. 
The aim for yoga teachers is to empower them to prepare a Yin Yoga class plan, with the safe flow of 6 Yin Yoga Postures and the ability to modify these postures to safely accommodate the most common pre-existing conditions.
For non-teachers, it is an indulgent weekend of Yin postures and a deeper exploration of its power to steady body and mind with particular emphasis on safe practice with preexisting conditions.

The IYTA Yin Foundations course is suitable for yoga practitioners and yoga teachers who wish to explore the basics of Yin Yoga.

The aim of Yin Foundations is for yoga teachers to be able to include Yin Postures in a General Hatha Class in an interesting and safe way.

For non-teachers it enables a deeper exploration of Yin postures, experiencing its power to steady the physical body and mind.


Yin 1 Foundations
 
On completion of the Yin Foundations Teacher Training Course participants will be able to:
 
1. Define Yin Yoga

2. Explain Yin Yoga: In the context of yoga history and philosophy

3. List at least six (6) History or Philosophy tools that could be used to teach a Yin Posture

4. List five (5) appropriate meditation techniques in yin postures

5. Explain Yin Yoga in the context of physical anatomy and compare and contrast Yin and Yang yoga

6. Use cues to safely bring students into a Yin Posture

7. Can modify at least five (5) Yin Yoga Postures to accommodate a student at risk

8. Describe the risks and benefits of Yin Yoga 

9. Explain Yin Yoga using the Oriental Energetic Model

10. List five (5) appropriate breathing techniques in yin postures

This module is to view the Online Videos only. For participants undertaking the Certificate of Attendance Only, it is not compulsory to view these videos, however it is strongly recommended.

Explore the history and philosophy of Yin Yoga, the anatomy of Yin – including vulnerable joints, meridians and yin and yang concepts. You will learn how to combine Yin and Yang yoga in a Hatha class, plus the various themes for Yin classes and linking of Yin yoga postures.

In short, you will learn the fundamentals required to start teaching Yin Yoga classes with confidence, along with safety concerns and pre-existing conditions. 

To graduate as a teacher of Yin yoga you need to have successfully undertaken both Yin 1 and Yin 2 Certificate of Completion.


Level 1 (Prenatal) is delivered via two full days of training or at your own pace via online learning.  You are required to be a 200hr+ teacher to complete this training.  This course counts towards the full 150hr IYTA Pre & Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training.

Level 2 (Prenatal - Safety and Birth) is delivered via four full residential days of training.  You are required to have completed Level 1 (Prenatal Foundations) and be a 200hr+ trained yoga teacher. 

Level 3 (Postnatal & Mums n Bubs) is delivered via two full days of training or at your own pace via online learning.  You are required to be a 200hr+ teacher to complete this training.  This course counts towards the full 150hr IYTA Pre & Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training.

The IYTA Yin 3 Teacher Training Weekend Workshop is suitable for yoga teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners who wish to explore (TCM) Traditional Chinese Medicine Tools that can be applied in Yin Yoga postures.

With a focus on the tools that would be useful to a Yin yoga teacher, this Weekend Workshop introduces the concepts of:  Yin and Yang, The 5 elements, 6 hand and 6 foot Meridians, Ren and Du meridians, Diagnosis in Oriental Healing, Treatments in Oriental Healing, Chi Gong breathing and meditation in Yin Yoga and applying Acupressure in Yin Yoga.
